Today marks a moment in my life I honestly never believed possible. To stand before His Majesty King Charles III and receive this knighthood is, without doubt, the most profound and humbling experience of my career.
When I look back at that young lad in East London who just wanted to play football, I’m overwhelmed by the journey, the support, and the sheer kindness that has brought me here. This incredible honour isn’t just for me; it’s a testament to the people who believed in me: my managers, my teammates, and the fans who always stood by me.
But more than anything, I want to acknowledge the work that has become the most important part of my life: the commitment to making a real difference through charity, particularly my dedication to UNICEF. This honour fuels my commitment to continue using my platform to help children worldwide and to champion British values of compassion and community.
To share this day with Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper means everything. They are my greatest source of strength and my proudest achievement.
To be recognised by the King, and to now carry the title of Sir, fills me with a renewed and overwhelming sense of national pride. I vow to honour this title and continue to represent our country and its values to the very best of my ability.
