From Homemaker to National Celebrity Chef: The Inspiring Journey of Kavita Singh

Ten years ago, when I started my journey, I also had to face many difficulties. But today, with my courage and determination, I have reached a stage where society recognizes me by my name.

I started my cooking journey in 2012 by participating in a cooking competition. At that time, I did not know whether I would win or not, but I had a strong belief in myself. I won that competition and received a prize of ₹50,000. Holding that trophy in my hands was one of the most beautiful moments of my life.

In 2016, I participated in another competition held in Mumbai. There were many contestants, but I secured the first position and won ₹45,000. This victory gave me confidence and a new direction in life. From that day onwards, I decided that cooking would not just remain my hobby but would become my identity.

In 2015, I received the Udaan Award as the best homemaker. Later, I also received the Chef Icon Award. After that, my journey kept moving forward. Gradually, my name began to be recognized in the culinary world. I started getting opportunities to work with different brands and platforms.

Along with cooking, I also started sharing my knowledge and experience with others. I began conducting cooking workshops and training programs. Many students learned from me and are now building their careers in the culinary field.

Today, after years of hard work and dedication, I feel proud of my journey. Life has taught me that if you believe in yourself and keep working hard, success will definitely come one day.

Now my children are 23 and 24 years old, and I feel proud to see them standing on their own feet. They have always supported me in my journey.

Today I am known as National Celebrity Chef Kavita Singh. And I was invited Master chef India season 8 and 10 as a tasting guest Whatever I have achieved is because of my hard work, patience, and the blessings of my family.

When did you started your journey as an chef?

My journey to becoming a chef began in 2014, when I realized that cooking was not just a task but my true passion. Gradually, I started learning, understanding, and perfecting the art of cooking. With time, this passion became my identity, and today cooking is an important part of my life.

Masala is more than just a blend of spices; it reflects tradition, geography, and family heritage. How do you think masalas shape the cultural identity of a cuisine?

In my opinion, spices are the soul of any dish. The spices of every region, their aroma, and the way they are used reflect the traditions and history of that place. Spices not only enhance the flavor of food but also tell the cultural story of where the dish comes from.

Food often reflects the history and traditions of a place. How do you think local cuisine represents the cultural identity of a region?

Kavita Singh

Local dishes are closely connected to the climate, agriculture, traditions, and lifestyle of a region. The ingredients that are easily available in a particular place gradually become the specialty dishes of that region. In this way, the food of every region represents its cultural identity.

Every destination has its own unique flavors and cooking techniques. In your opinion, how does food help us understand the culture of different communities?

Through food, we can understand the traditions, habits, and way of life of any community. When we taste the food of another region or culture, we get closer to their culture through their flavors, spices, and cooking techniques.

Beyond taste, food carries history, tradition, and identity. How do you think a single dish can reflect the story of a place or a generation?

Kavita Singh

A dish is not just something to eat; it also carries the traditions, history, and memories of the place it comes from. Many dishes are prepared through generations, and every generation adds its own experience to them. In this way, a dish tells the story of a place and its people.

With the rise of fusion cuisine, how can chefs innovate while still respecting the roots of traditional cuisines?

Kavita Singh

In fusion cuisine, the most important thing is that a chef should understand the true essence of traditional dishes. When you respect their roots and then add new flavors or techniques, only then can a balanced and creative fusion dish be created.

Do you believe that cuisine has the power to connect people across different cultures and backgrounds?

 

Yes, absolutely. Food has an incredible power to bring people together. When people from different cultures sit together and share a meal, the distances between them reduce, and a new sense of understanding and connection is created.
