The Hague / New Delhi, 2025:
Internationally acclaimed fashion designer, peace advocate, and member of the United Nations for International Affairs, Dr Lady Priyanka Mallick Banerjee, addressed the global community as part of UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism for All Women & Girls.

Representing the voice of creative leadership and humanitarian advocacy, Dr Mallick delivered a powerful statement on two urgent global issues:
1. The Human Rights and Education Crisis of Afghan Women & Girls
Priyanka urged the United Nations leadership, the UN Secretary-General, and world governments to take strong and immediate action to restore the rights, freedom, and education of Afghan women and girls.
She emphasized that banning an entire generation of girls from education is not only a violation of human rights, but a direct setback for global progress.
She said:
“Education is the cosmic fuel of human evolution. When Afghan girls are denied this fuel, the entire world becomes dimmer. We must rise, burn bright, and turn all negatives into ashes.”
This is not her first address on Afghan women’s rights—Dr Mallick previously spoke on the same issue at the G20 Summit in South Africa, where she was virtually invited to the Power of Women Conference as a global advocate.
2. NO EXCUSE FOR ONLINE ABUSE
Speaking as a creative public figure who actively supports women’s digital safety, she stressed that online harassment is violence, and digital abuse disproportionately harms women and girls.
Her statement aligned with UN Women’s global call:
NoExcuse for Online Abuse
She urged global platforms, governments, civil society, and communities to establish stronger protections, accountability systems, and safer digital environments.
