Embarking on the yatra in a customised Volvo bus, Gandhi engaged with the local population through a padayatra, walking alongside citizens and addressing their concerns. This approach allowed him to connect more closely with the people and gain firsthand insights into the challenges faced by the residents of Manipur.

During the second day of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Manipur, Rahul Gandhi expressed the Congress party’s solidarity with the people of the state and its commitment to restoring peace and harmony. The yatra began in a customised Volvo bus, symbolising the Congress leader’s outreach to different regions of the country. As part of the journey, Gandhi engaged in a padayatra, walking with local citizens and interacting with them to understand their concerns.

The yatra attracted a considerable crowd, including women and children, who lined up along the route to cheer the bus as it traversed busy areas. This mode of engagement allowed Gandhi to connect directly with the people, emphasising the party’s support for Manipur and its desire to address the challenges faced by the residents.

Addressing the gathering in Senapati, Gandhi highlighted the success of the first Bharat Jodo Yatra, which covered a distance of over 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. These yatras aim to bring diverse communities together, fostering a sense of unity among the people of India. Gandhi emphasised the significance of starting the journey from Manipur, intending to showcase the struggles and difficulties faced by the state’s people, thus creating awareness and empathy among the broader population.

During his interaction with the people of Manipur, Rahul Gandhi expressed empathy for their challenges, acknowledging the tragedy of losing family members and property. He reassured the residents that the Congress party stands fully with them and is committed to bringing peace back to Manipur. Gandhi emphasised the party’s goal of making Manipur peaceful and harmonious again.

Having spoken with delegations from the state, Gandhi is informed about the issues confronting the people of Manipur. He conveyed his hope for the swift return of peace to the region, underscoring the importance of resolving the challenges faced by the community.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary, shared an update on the second day of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, mentioning the early start with the traditional flag hoisting by Seva Dal at the campsite. The flag hoisting, a symbolic act, marks the commencement of the day’s activities during the yatra. The post highlights the involvement of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Meghachandra K in the event, indicating the party’s organisational engagement at the state level.

In his post, Jairam Ramesh provided details about the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra itinerary, mentioning that the yatra was moving from Sekmai to Kangpokpi and then to Senapati, all destinations within Manipur. The journey was planned to conclude for the night in the neighbouring state of Nagaland.

The yatra, which began on Sunday, January 14, in Manipur, holds significant symbolic importance. Rahul Gandhi emphasised that the Congress party aims to present a new vision for India during the yatra. As articulated by Gandhi, this vision is based on principles of harmony, brotherhood, and equitability, rejecting elements of hatred, violence, and monopoly. The yatra is not just a physical journey but also a political and symbolic one, underscoring the party’s commitment to inclusivity, peace, and equitable progress for the nation. The decision to start the yatra from Manipur, a state that has faced challenges, further highlights the Congress party’s dedication to addressing the concerns and aspirations of different regions and communities across India.
