Indian team shows absolutely strong mid block defensive discipline with two lines of four players with vertical compactness. On the other hand the Socceroos controlled the ball possessions and tried to catch the Indian players with long diagonal balls in the flank. The leader at the back Sandesh Jhingan has other plans with his boys in the back. He intercepted every goal threat, every aerial duel was won by him. Howler From Gurpreet & Lack of Creativity Upfront  AFC Asian Cup 2024

In the second half Australian coach Graham Arnold makes a brilliant tactical change by inverted his wing backs to midfield so that Chhangte and Manvir had no place to exploit the space and the whole team was compelled to defense and sit back deeper. Australia gradually gained the momentum and tried to exploit India by the physicality and swift play style but India has all the answers for all crosses and shots.

But all the hard fight went to water as Gurpreet Singh Sandhu’s rare mistake to grab a cross falls infront of Irvine. Irvine made no mistake and gave the Australia team their most awaited goal. The second goal soon arrived for Australia with their two substitutes combining. Riley McGree caught Chhangte wrong footed and Subhashish Bose out of positions, his pin point cross found Jordan Bos for a simple tap in.
