ECCL Season 2

Gurugram, March 20, 2024 – The much-anticipated finale of the Euronics Corporate Cricket League (ECCL) Season 2 unfolded in Delhi-NCR, marking a significant milestone in the corporate sports culture of India. In an electrifying final, Gian P Mathur and Associates (GPM Architects) clinched the Delhi-NCR championship title by defeating Design Forum International by a decisive 8 wickets.

Euronics, established in 2002 and renowned as India’s leading brand in public washroom automation accessories, ventured into promoting corporate wellness and camaraderie through cricket with the launch of the ECCL in 2022. From its humble beginnings with just five teams, the ECCL has rapidly evolved into the country’s most prominent corporate cricket event, expanding its presence to multiple cities including Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, and now Delhi-NCR in its second season.

The Delhi-NCR leg of the tournament witnessed intense competition among 48 corporate giants, including NBCC, CPWD, PVR INOX, and Godrej Properties, to name a few. The tournament structure comprised 24 league matches leading up to pre-qualifiers, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the ultimate final showdown at the Wisteria Sports Club in Baliawas, Gurugram.

GPM Architects showcased remarkable skill and teamwork throughout the tournament, securing their spot in the finals with an impressive net run rate of 6.935. Design Forum International, on the other hand, emerged victorious in a high-stakes eliminator match against AECOM, setting the stage for a thrilling final. Despite a challenging target set by Design Forum International, GPM Architects dominated the field, achieving victory in just 4.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand, thanks in part to Shivam Tiwari’s explosive 39 runs off 13 balls.

The champions, GPM Architects, were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and the coveted championship trophy, while Design Forum International received Rs. 25,000 as the runner-up. The final match drew a crowd of over 3000 spectators, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for corporate cricket in India.

Viknesh Jain, CEO & MD of Euronics, expressed his excitement about the league’s success, stating, “ECCL has transcended mere competition to become a celebrated tradition in the corporate world. It unites professionals and cricket enthusiasts nationwide, fostering camaraderie through the spirit of cricket.” Jain also shared plans to expand ECCL to 10 more cities over the next two years and introduce a grand finale event, “Super ECCL,” where champions from various cities will compete for the ultimate title.

As the ECCL continues to gain acclaim and set new benchmarks in corporate sports, Euronics is looking forward to furthering its mission of promoting health, wellness, and unity through cricket, solidifying the ECCL’s status as a cornerstone of India’s corporate sports culture.
